Character Rigging Demo Reel

Alec Fredericks CharacterTD/Animation resume (UPDATED!)

OK, so my demo reel is pretty frickin’ old by now — this one is from 2007. It’s missing Spiderwick Chronicles from my time at ILM, Clone Wars from LucasFilm, and Bioshock 2 & XCOM stuff from 2K Marin. I’ll get that stuff flowing in the near future.
Watch the demo reel, please.

The Spiderwick Chronicles
Above is the last work I did at ILM on “The Spiderwick Chronicles”. In addition to rigging Thimbletack and a number of the faeries, I was responsible for creating a rig that could blend between characters, in this case, Thimbletack/Boggart & Father/Mulgarath. The transition shots in this video are to illustrate the tool, which blended not only between transforms of multiple characters (all done with just one skeleton, and each main body part could be dialed in separately), but also shapes and textures, giving the animators full control over how and when the different parts of the transition happened.
I rigged a few of the faeries, including full cloth sim on wings, petals and antennae.
